West Coast Pet Memorial formerly Cal Pet provides compassionate pet aftercare services in Los Angeles, CA.
They have taken care of two dogs for us now and have been quick, caring, and professional. The first was before the new management took over, and the second was last week. Both times have been good experiences but this last time was much quicker (3 bus. days!) and it appears that they've improved the front lobby, so they'll let you come sit inside now while they bring you your pet's remains. I'm hoping that the new company managing it continues to run it this well.
Unfortunately it's not the ownership, it's the employees that make or break a business. I've used Cal pet now known as west coast pet cremation 5 to 6 times. The original staff at 1st was great and very empathetic. During the last 3 to 4 years the staff changed quite a few times. I forget who's who but I think it was one that shouldn't have been hired that didn't show any empathy or sincere caring. It just takes 1 to mess the whole positive reaction to a negative.
I’ve never left a review before but this place definitely earned one. All the staff is so compassionate & understanding. Carmen helped us from the time we dropped off my girl to the day we picked her up. She was VERY kind to my husband and I. They show you and your pet respect & you really feel their sympathy.
It was so hard losing my pet. All interactions with CalPet were professional and met with sympathy. If you go to their facility, despite being in an industrial area, is very peaceful with benches and a small garden. I wanted to buy a box for my dogs ashes but afraid to purchase from a website bc I wanted to make sure it was nice. All the options of their boxes were classy and well made. Have confidence picking a style from their website knowing it’s quality. RIP my sweet chili pepper dog.
When our beloved cat Pisco passed away last week, VCA Animal Specialty Group recommended Cal Pet Crematory and they kindly arranged to have him picked up by Cal Pet. We quickly received his ashes in a beautiful box, with a kind card from Cal Pet, and a plaque with Pisco's name and paw print. I feel that Pisco was treated with dignity and care and I appreciate Cal Pet for taking the extra effort of sending us a card as well.
